Days of the Week in Moroccan Arabic (with Pronunciation Guide)

Whether you're setting up a lesson, planning your trip to Morocco, or chatting about your schedule — you need to know how to say the days of the week in Darija!

The good news? It’s very similar to Modern Standard Arabic, but the pronunciation and flow are more relaxed. Let’s take a look 👇

Darija Days of the Week

English Darija
Monday Latnin
Tuesday Tlat
Wednesday Larba3
Thursday Lakhmis
Friday Jam3a
Saturday Sabt
Sunday L7ad

📝 Note: Most days are derived from numbers in Arabic, except for Friday (a religious day), Saturday, and Sunday.

Pattern Breakdown

  • Latnin (Monday) → from ithnayn (2)

  • Tlata (Tuesday) → from thalatha (3)

  • Larba3 (Wednesday) → from arba3a (4)

  • Lakhmis (Thursday) → from khamsa (5)

The rest follow their own structure, especially jam3a (Friday), which is linked to the Friday prayer (salat l jom3a).

Example Sentences

  • Ana 3andi dars nhar tlat.
    I have class on Tuesday.
  • Ghadi nsafar nhar jam3a.
    I’m traveling on Friday.
  • Wash khdam nhar lakhmis?
    Are you working Thursday?

💡 Quick Tips for Memorizing

✅ Say them out loud every morning
✅ Practice with a calendar
✅ Link them to weekly routines (e.g., jjmʿa = mosque)
✅ Use them in daily journal prompts or voice notes
